Moving Beyond Medications: the Road to Wellness with Physical Therapy

Lisa is a self employed active adult. She loves to do yoga, run, go for long walks with her friends and play with her young nephews.

Going for a walk helps her to mentally reset when she gets overloaded with work. Yoga helps to keep her flexible after sitting in a chair for 8 to 10 hours a day. Running helps to burn her metabolism to keep her in shape… because beach season is always around the corner :)

But one day, her hip began to hurt during yoga. Then she shifted to running more, which caused her back to hurt. Because of that she began to lose sleep and gain weight. So she saw her primary care doctor who ordered her to rest and referred her to an orthopedist. The next doctor gave her medications and told her she needed more rest. After a two months of rest, she felt better but each run and yoga class was interrupted by a return of her hip or back pain.

Unfortunately for Lisa, this routine of seeing a doctor, being prescribed medication and rest continued for over a year until finally a friend mentioned she should try PT. This was when she met me…

Upon evaluation, her hip inflexibility was causing her to compensate with her back and compromise her hip position. As this had been going on for over a year, key stabilizing muscles in her core and hips had become deconditioned and weak. We both knew she had some work to do, but at least now she had direction. She was ready to make the investment to take care of herself by coming to see me.

With each small milestone- bending forward to pick up a shoe, squatting with a barbell, jogging on the treadmill- her body became stronger, she was able to move more and hurt less. Working with a physical therapist not only gave her guidance, it provided her with a coach, a friend, and someone who really cared about her and achieving the goals we set together.

I started this business out of a passion to be a reliable and authentic source to help people becomes stronger, more fit and to live active lives without pain or anything holding them back. I believe all people have potential to move better and hurt less. Although pain is common, it is not normal.

Let’s have a chat on how I can help you

Warmly,

Joe
